Autumn has arrived

Dear families,

It seems that Autumn has arrived as the rain arrives. But nevertheless, it has been a great week.

*FORMER OLD OAK PUPILS*

Young adults often return to say hello and tell us all about how they are doing. I am struck by how mature they appear and how well they have done in their field of work. This week I have had two parents come to us with news of ex-pupils. One has done really well in his GCSEs and achieved the highest standards in all his subjects at secondary school. The other has just received a Masters in Science from University College London! Both families were so grateful for the best start they received here at Old Oak. Success looks different to each person and I am always impressed to hear news of pupils who are doing well in all different paths in life.

*HARVEST FESTIVAL*

As Autumn begins it is time for us to collect food which we can give out to our community. There is a table in the lower hall which is slowly filling with tins, packets of rice and pasta and other foodstuff which keeps for a longer time. Please bring in anything spare you have at home and leave it with the staff on the gate. We will add it to the collection.

*FAMILY GROUP*

Please find attached the newsletter from Family Group. If you are interested please contact Isabel or myself. Many families have benefitted from working with Family Group over the years so please get involved if you think it can help you.

*OLD OAK EARLY YEARS EDUCATION CENTRE (EYEC)*

Welcome to the families who have joined the Old Oak EYEC. We now have children aged between 6 months and 3 years of age who come to us for all or part of the week. It is very new - it only opened this month - and is a partnership with Imperial College West. We are proud to provide high quality care for these children and look forward to welcoming the families into Old Oak in the coming months. If you are returning to work and would like a setting for your child, then please ask at frontdesk or contact me at head@oldoak.lbhf.sch.uk. The families at EYEC will now receive the weekly update from school as well.

*BLACK HISTORY MONTH*

Please find attached a poster of the events taking place in October. Other events will be added during the next week or so.
