Dear Families,

*COLLECTION FOR THE DISASTERS EMERGENCY COMMITTEE (DEC)*

Next Friday is Red Nose Day, Comic Relief. The children may wear something red on this day but we are collecting this year for the disasters emergency committee to support those in Ukraine. I know that the children are aware of these events. The school will collect any donation you can afford and we will make sure that the money reaches the DEC as soon as possible and Old Oak can support those suffering during these terrible events.

*CLASS ASSEMBLIES*

Class assemblies are taking place again and this week we were treated to a wonderful performance by Maple class. They retold the story The Pebble in My Pocket and brought the history of a pebble to life with acting, song, and sound effects. This can be enjoyed by all on the school Youtube channnel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch. Magnolia class gave an assembly based on the life of the composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de St-Georges which you can see here : https://www.youtube.com/watch. There are other stories available here too.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU LOOK AT THESE VIDEOS WITH YOUR CHILD. DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WATCH YOUTUBE UNACCOMPANIED, AS THEY WILL FIND MATERIAL NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN ON YOUTUBE SITES.

I have had reports of children talking about Squid Games and other videos and these are not meant for children.

*PIRATES IN KEY STAGE 1 PLAYGROUND*

We have photos of pirates in the playground earlier this week. If you also see one of them , please get in touch with Mr. Brown. They looked friendly, but you can never be sure.
