Dear Families,

*HS2 PARTNERSHIP WITH OLD OAK*

The school is lucky enough to be working with the construction team at the High Speed 2 Old Oak Common Station close to the school. We have already been able to provide the artwork for the hoarding (attached) which surrounds the site. Our Year 3 children have also taken part in the soft launch of the project, visiting the work site yesterday and looking from the viewing platforms. They also chose the name of the boring machine, voting for the name 'Bramble'. Bramble will drill the large hole under the ground for the train tunnels. The links with the site will, I hope, enable the children to learn a lot about the possible careers involved in the build, including engineering, apprenticeships in construction and design. HShoarding.pdf click to view picture

*RED NOSE DAY*

Old Oak is painted red today as part of our Red Nose Day Celebrations. We have collected this year for the Disaster Emergency Committee and all the money raised will be sent to DEC to support those suffering in Ukraine. Thank you all for the money given. We will let you know how much next week.

*BOOK DONATIONS*

As part of World Book Day, our partners at West London Zone have been kind enough to donate a book to every child in key stage 2. This is a wonderful gesture and I hope the children enjoy reading them. Next week we are having improvements made to our own school library and create an even better environment for the children to enjoy the books. I will send through some pictures when it is finished.

*LIVE THEATRE IN SCHOOL*

On Thursday, our younger children were able to enjoy a performance of Clare and Cory Share a (Glorious) Story from our friends at the Really Big Pants Theatre Company. This was performed to children from the school and the Old Oak EYEC, so the youngest audience member was 11 months old. It was a great chance for the children to see a book brought to life. If the children really enjoyed it, then you are able to buy the book. Just contact the school.
Have a great weekend.

Best wishes

Joe
