*PROUD TO BE .... DAY*

On Friday , 22nd October, the last day before half term, all children are invited to come to school wearing something that makes them feel proud. This could be something which reflects their family heritage, national dress for example, or something they are passionate about. Children will have a chance to show the rest of the school during our sharing assembly in the morning. This event is part of our Black History celebrations.

*HARVEST FESTIVAL*
Next week is the last chance to bring in food for our collection. Please hand them in at the gate and we will add them to the table. Many thanks.

*RAFFLE TICKETS*

Please buy some tickets for the raffle at the end of next week. There are some great prizes to be won. They will be sold at the different gates throughout next week. Tickets cost £1.00 pound each or £3.00 for 5 tickets.

*MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1st - INSET DAY*

The school will be closed for a staff training on Monday 1st November. You can find the term dates here: https://www.oldoakprimary.co.uk/parents/term-dates

*PACKED LUNCHES IN SCHOOL*

Packed lunches should not contain any nuts or chocolate spread (this often contains nuts). A good packed lunch should contain fruit and some salad - carrot or cucumber sticks. A sandwich is also sensible. A small portion of crisps in a tupperware is good , rather than a whole packet. Be careful with shop-bought dips and snacks - they are often full of salt and fat. Smoothies and yoghurt are also an issue - often full of sugar. Grapes should always be cut in half and not given whole. Staff will ask children politely to eat the grapes later at home if they are not cut in half. We spend so long making sure the children have healthy minds, let's work together to make sure they have healthy bodies too. Remember, school lunches are available and free to those in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

*NETFLIX*

Children are talking about the series 'Squid Game' in the playground, possibly from older brothers and sisters. This is a certificate 15 and it is very violent and inappropriate in other ways too. Please manage what your children watch on the Ipads, tablets, phones and televisions.

As it gets darker in the evenings now, and if your child goes home on their own, please make your child aware of the potential dangers.

Have a good weekend

Best wishes

Joe
