Dear families,

A little late, but I thought the Nursery Poppy was worth sharing. I hope everyone had a good week.

*PARENT GOVERNORS*

The nomination forms for governors went out earlier this week. Please give me a call or see me on the gate if you would like to be involved. It's a key role for those interested.

*FRIDAY 3RD DECEMBER - NON UNIFORM FOR NHS*

This is a non-uniform day to collect money for the NHS. This campaign will see students invited to wear the colours of the emergency services (red, blue, green or orange) and donate £1 towards building the UK’s first ‘Emergency Services Cenotaph’ which is supported by His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, the Prime Minister and First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. You will have noticed that we have not done any Children in Need activities this year and this is the reason.

*PARENT MEETINGS*

Please make sure you speak to your child's teacher if you have not already done so. Your child's education is a partnership between us and these conversations are helpful for you to support more at home. Reading always helps by the way.

*ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY*

The attendance this week has been fantastic. Thank you. The next thing to think about is punctuality - coming late to school. With the catch up curriculum in place, classes really begin at 8.55am with different support teaching taking place. It disturbs the class and children feel uncomfortable coming in late. The KS1 and KS2 gates close at 9.00am. The Early Years gate closes at 9.05am. If you are late, please phone ahead and let us know. If you do not do this, then please wait with your child in the key stage 1 playground under the canopy until 9.20am, when your child will be collected and taken to their class.

*SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER*

On Wednesday 24th November, the school photographer is in to take photos of the children. This will include the younger children in the Old Oak EYEC. Sibling photos will also take place but unfortunately no older siblings from outside the school are allowed to come.

*GUESTBOOK + PARENT COMMENTS*

Visitors to the school often talk about the children and describe them as happy and emotionally literate and engaged. I see this as a real positive for us and a great way to promote a really important side of primary education at Old Oak - developing the whole child. You can see the comments here - https://www.oldoakprimary.co.uk/guest-book. Parents have also made some lovely comments to teachers during the conversations this week - if you do have positive things to say, please write them in the parents section in the guestbook. Thank you.

*CLASS ASSEMBLY RECORDINGS*

We have begun our class assemblies and are recording these so parents can enjoy them as well during these Covid times. Families will be sent a Youtube link on Seesaw by the teacher with a recording of the assembly. The video will remain on the school Youtube channel for 2 weeks. It will then be taken down.

*SHEPHERDS BUSH LIBRARY EVENTS*

Please find an attachment which tells you about the events which have begun again in our local library at Shepherds Bush. Events list for schools library.docx

Have a good weekend.

Best wishes
