Here at Old Oak Primary, we encourage our children to become aware of other languages and cultures and the children in Year 3 to Year 6 enjoy the opportunity to learn French as their modern foreign language. 

Children enjoy learning to speak another language and we believe that that the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language, the faster the language in question is acquired. We aim to introduce young children to the French language in a way that is enjoyable and fun and the children's learning is developed through the use of songs, games and activities which ensure that by the end of Key Stage 2 they have knowledge of both the language and culture of French-speaking countries.   

Each child is given the opportunity to develop their skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in French which lays the foundations for future study. We aim to make lessons as entertaining as possible so that we can develop positive attitudes in the children when learning modern foreign languages.
