Welcome to Year 1 Acacia Class!

After a busy Autumn term and ending it with an amazing EYFS-KS1 Nativity , Year 1 have come back eager to start the Spring term well as they are aware of our routines and expectations.

 

In English we will be reading some exciting Power of Reading texts book ‘How to find Gold’ by Viviane Swartz and ‘One Day on Our Blue Planet - In the Savannah’  by Ella Bailey. We will continue to explore these books by using our inferring skills by looking at the illustrations. We will learn how to write letters, explore poetry and we find how these stories can be linked to nursery rhymes and traditional tales.

 

In IPC we will become Geography explorers as we will investigate our in our unit ‘Treasure Island’ and we will learn about what are maps and how we use them to locate places. We will also look study ‘Our Earth our Home’ looking closely at living and non-living things, classify animals by what they eat.

 

In Maths we will be start to learn about Number and Place Value to 20, Addition and Subtraction, Length and Height, Mass and Capacity

 

This jam packed term will be full of fun learning as we continue to collaborate, communicate and show how resilient we can be when we come across challenges.
