Welcome to Year 1 Acacia Class!
What a fantastic start to the year it has been for Acacia Class! The children have settled into Year 1 so well, and we are really proud of the way they have embraced new routines, learning challenges, and the exciting journey of Key Stage 1. Moving up from Reception can feel like a big step, but Acacia Class have shown great enthusiasm, kindness, and resilience as they’ve adjusted to their new classroom environment.
As the days grow shorter and the season begins to change, we have been learning all about Autumn in our IPC and English lessons. The children have loved listening to poems from Out and About by Shirley Hughes, which capture the wonder of the outdoors. They have been spotting rhyming words, trying out new vocabulary, and even performing some poems together – with lots of confidence and expression!
In Maths, we have been busy exploring how to name numbers up to ten and represent them in different ways. The children have also been practising finding one more and one less, which has led to some brilliant problem-solving and discussions in class. It has been wonderful to see them working so carefully and beginning to grow as independent learners.
Most importantly, the children in Acacia Class have been supporting each other, sharing their ideas, and showing curiosity in everything they do. Their smiles, questions, and eagerness to learn make the classroom such a joyful place to be each day. We are so excited to see how much they will achieve and discover as they continue their Year 1 adventure!
